About the project…

Art Talk Bus Stop is a monthly podcast about how artists do their work and make a living.

Each month we record an interview with an artist, curator, musician, maker, or creative worker about their labor. Students learn to research and ask interesting questions, how to run the tech, produce and edit the show, and promote new episodes. They do most of the interviewing themselves with mentorship and guidance from me.

My co-host Nicole Cabrera and I will be working with students from McDaniel HS in Portland for the 2022–23 school year.

Tune in each month on KBOO.fm

An archive of past shows is linked below and can be heard on YouTube, Bandcamp, and KBOO.fm.

The project originated as a collaboration with a group of art students and art teacher Katie Sullivan at Reynolds High School in Gresham, OR. I was invited to be an artist in residence in their Arts Management class in 2019. The podcast grew out of that collaboration. As an artist who is interested in conversations about class in and outside of the art world, it feels really important to do this project in East County where the students have less access to the cultural resources that are so abundant in the Portland City Center.
